Guardian Home
What is a Guardian Home?
Being a guardian family for a dog can be an excellent way to have a top-quality dog for a family pet without all the expense. We believe every dog deserves a loving forever family that they can call their own. We are not a kennel breeder as dogs raised in kennels do not get the socialization and stimulation that is needed to be a well-balanced happy dog. We believe that a family life is of utmost importance, our Guardian Homes have become an important part of our program, and it benefits everyone involved, the dog, the forever family and the breeder.
These pups/dog live with you as your family dog while we retain breeding rights for the dog. The puppies are whelped at our home and the mama stays with us until pups are weaned. Depending on many factors the female would remain in our program up to 5 years of age (no more than 4 litters) for females and 9 years for males. In the end we will pay the cost to have your dog spayed or neutered and AKC documents will be released to you.
This dog/puppy is your family pet, your forever companion. We simply retain breeding rights, and she/he may have a litter, or she/he may not depending on the needs of our breeding program that year
Does it cost to become a Guardian Parent
No, you will receive a top-quality dog that has been hand selected by us to remain in our program at no upfront cost!
BENEFITS TO BEING A GUARDIAN HOME
We take pride in our Guardian home program. It’s a unique opportunity for families who love the breed and want to be involved in our program.
The benefits of being a guardian home parent are many
Companionship of a beautiful well-bred top-quality Springer at no up-front cost
The dog will be Embarked health tested at the breeder’s expense
You also help us produce the next generation of springers for new families
We encourage families to visit their female and her puppies at any time

The breeder pays for spay or neuter after the female is retired
Once retired and spayed/neutered, full rights and ownership are transferred to you
Lifetime support of the breeder
Guardians with females get to name the puppies in her litters
Knowing your canine companion is blessing families all over the country
We consider all of our puppy/dog owners’ family, but when you become a guardian, you are truly part of our team.
Owning a Female Guardian Dog
Once the dog is of age, has passed all of her health testing, and is ready to breed (typically on her second heat cycle) we will have her over for a few days during the breeding process and later, for the duration of whelping her litter. After she has been bred, she will return to her guardian family who will care for her during her pregnancy. She will then come back to us a week before she is due to whelp her litter. Once old enough, female dogs will spend at least 6-8 weeks per year in our care to whelp, raise, and wean their puppies (guardian families are always welcome to visit). Guardians must be able to detect a heat cycle (while notifying us the first day signs of each cycle is seen) and keep females away from intact male dogs during this time. Females will retire after having 3-4 litters (so long as she remains healthy during pregnancy/whelping/weaning and proves to be excellent mama dog). Once retired the female will be spayed (courtesy of us) and continue to live the remainder of her life with her guardian family. We offer a monetary thank-you bonus after each successful litter our mamas have!
Owning a Male Guardian Dog
Once the dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing, and is ready to breed (when optimal maturity has been reached) our male dogs will spend a few days with us at a time when needed during breeding. Males will typically sire a few litters per season (guardians are always welcome to visit the puppies). Occasionally males will be needed for stud services to outside breeding programs. Guardians must be able to keep male dogs away from intact female dogs in heat. Males will retire at around the age of 5-7, Once retired the male will be neutered (courtesy of us) and continue to live the remainder of his life with his guardian family.
