Bringing Your Puppy Home

Our puppies are set up for success from the very beginning. They leave our home at eight weeks of age with a strong foundation of care, including initial vaccinations and multiple deworming treatments.

To help with a smooth transition, each puppy goes home with a complimentary go-home basket that includes:

  • A blanket with the scent of their mother and littermates

  • Vaccination records

  • Limited AKC registration

  • A container of food

  • Toys and treats

  • A leash

  • A custom collar

Before leaving, our puppies are also introduced to basic manners, early obedience, potty training routines, and crate training to help them feel safe and comfortable in their new homes.

With daily practice and consistency, you will continue to see great progress in potty training, crate training, and developing the good habits that will shape your puppy into a wonderful lifelong companion.

Enrichment & Socialization

We ensure that all of our puppies are well-equipped to excel in their lives with their new forever families. Our puppies are well adapted to both home and outdoor environments, growing up in a house full of Springers and a toddler. Springers are highly intelligent, quick learners, and eager to continue learning new things throughout their lives.

We’re dedicated to unlocking potential through a comprehensive enrichment program, featuring things like:

  • Socialization with people, children, animals, and other dogs.

  • Daily handling and exposure to new environments, textures, and experiences. Including car rides, potty training, crate training, leash walking and the “no” biting or chewing reinforcement

  • Diverse sounds and scent introductions.

As you continue to expose your puppy to a wide range of people, places, and experiences, you’ll be empowering them to become confident and a well-adjusted companion.

Price & Colors

All puppies require a non-refundable $300 deposit to reserve a spot on the waitlist. Deposits may be transferred to a future litter if necessary.

Puppy selections are made in the order deposits are received.

Recommended Puppy Food

Higher‑quality foods, especially premium brands, tend to be more digestible. This means your puppy will produce less waste, need to eat smaller amounts, and stay full longer. Dry kibble also supports your puppy’s natural urge to chew and helps reduce plaque buildup.

Avoid giving table scraps or people food. Most human foods contain spices or ingredients that are not healthy for dogs. Plain, unseasoned foods are safer, but should still be limited.

Important Note on Treats and Chews:
I do not recommend beef, pork, or chicken bones, leather rawhide bones, pig ears, or any type of rawhide product. Dogs cannot properly digest rawhide, and it can accumulate in the intestines, causing serious issues later on. This also includes avoiding Greenies.

I do recommend antlers. If you know anyone who hunts deer, elk, or other animals with antlers or horns, ask if they have extras they don’t need. Antlers are made entirely of calcium, dogs love them, and they help keep teeth clean and free of tartar.

What to Expect

We ask a number of questions to ensure each puppy is placed in the best possible home.

Prospective families will be asked about their lifestyle and their ability to care for a new family member. This includes discussing plans for basic puppy training, spaying or neutering, and whether the puppy will continue to be actively socialized with different people, environments, noises, and other animals.

We will also ask about experience with the breed. English Springer Spaniels are a high-energy breed that requires plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. They thrive when they are active, engaged, and given opportunities to learn.

Most importantly, we always ask one key question: Are you ready for a 12+ year journey with your new companion?

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

While not all English Springer Spaniels are prone to urinary tract infections (UTIs), the breed can be somewhat more susceptible than others. Females tend to be affected more often than males.

Like people, dogs have a tube connected to the bladder called the urethra, which allows urine to leave the body. Bacteria from feces or debris can enter the urethral opening and travel upward into the bladder. A urinary tract infection occurs when bacteria begin to grow in the bladder. The most common cause of UTIs in dogs is E. coli, although other bacteria can also cause infection.

Dogs with weakened immune systems due to illness or poor nutrition may be more susceptible to infection because bacteria can reproduce more easily.

It’s important to help prevent UTIs by encouraging your dog to drink plenty of water. Always make sure fresh, clean water is available and change the water bowl regularly, especially if there is drool or food residue present. Allowing your dog to go outside frequently is also important so they are not forced to hold their bladder for long periods of time.

Signs your puppy or dog may have a UTI:

  • Licking around the urinary opening

  • Straining or whimpering while urinating

  • Wanting to go outside more frequently

  • Dribbling urine

  • Fever

  • Accidents in the house (Note: puppies having accidents does not always mean a UTI, as they are still learning potty training)

  • Bloody or cloudy urine

If you suspect your puppy or dog may have a UTI, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Do not wait it out. Early treatment is important.

Keeping Your Springer’s Ears Clean

English Springer Spaniels have long, beautiful ears that require regular care. Without proper cleaning, moisture and debris can build up and lead to ear infections. Cleaning your puppy’s ears once a week—or more often if your dog swims frequently—can help prevent infections, ear mites, and other issues.

Regular ear care can also help you avoid costly veterinary visits. Treatment for ear infections can sometimes cost $100 or more, but consistent cleaning and proper maintenance can greatly reduce the risk.

Keeping the hair on the upper half of the ear trimmed (inside and out) can also improve airflow and help keep the ears dry and healthy.

Ear infections can occur for several reasons, including allergies, hormonal conditions, nutrition issues, autoimmune diseases, or a buildup of wax and debris. Keeping your dog’s ears clean and dry is one of the best ways to help prevent these problems.

Guidelines for Clean, Healthy Ears

  • Clean your dog’s ears at least once a week, especially if they are prone to ear issues.

  • Look inside the ear for dirt, scratches, parasites, or discharge.

  • Give the ear a quick smell—there should not be an unpleasant odor.

  • Moisten a cotton ball with an ear-cleaning solution and gently wipe the ear. Do not go deeper than the first knuckle on your finger.

  • Keep ears dry and clean, especially after swimming or bathing.

Avoid using drying agents regularly unless recommended by a veterinarian. If the ear is producing discharge, there may be an underlying cause that needs treatment. Simply drying the ear without addressing the issue can lead to recurring problems.

If you believe your puppy or dog may have an ear infection, contact your veterinarian right away.

Do not wait it out. Early treatment is important.

We recommend feeding Purina Pro Plan Puppy – Lamb & Rice Formula. This food provides balanced nutrition to support healthy growth, development, and energy levels during your puppy’s early months.

To help your puppy transition smoothly into their new home, we recommend having the following items ready:

  • Stainless steel food & water bowls

  • Kongs, antlers, marrow bones, cow hooves, bully sticks

  • Chuck It toys (for fetch)

  • Potty bells

  • Snuggle Puppy

  • Long lead & treat pouch

  • Medium/large crate with divider

  • TrizULTRA + Keto Flush (ear cleaner)

Each puppy will go home with:

  • Quart container of food

  • Training treats

  • Leash

  • Custom collar

  • Various chew toys

  • Blanket with the mother’s scent for comfort

Puppy Starter Checklist

Teething & Chewing

Puppies naturally explore their world by mouthing and chewing. During the teething stage, they may bite or chew on many things to help relieve discomfort in their gums.

The best way to manage this phase is by providing plenty of appropriate chew toys. Soft toys and blankets can offer gentle relief, and frozen carrots can be a soothing treat that many puppies enjoy.

If you catch your puppy chewing on something they shouldn’t, simply redirect their attention to an appropriate chew toy. Consistent redirection will help teach them what is acceptable to chew on.

A puppy’s skin is more sensitive than human skin, so frequent bathing is not recommended. Bathing once a month is usually sufficient. Bathing too often can dry out your puppy’s skin.

Use a puppy or dog shampoo, or a tear-free baby shampoo. We recommend Burt’s Bees Puppy Tearless Shampoo with Buttermilk (often available on Amazon).

When bathing your puppy, try to keep the inside of the ears, eyes, nose, and mouth area dry.

If your puppy gets wet or muddy from rain or outdoor play, a full bath is not always necessary. Towel dry your puppy first, especially the paws. If you use a crate or laundry room, you can allow your puppy to rest there briefly until they are fully dry, then give them a quick brushing afterward.

Potty Training Tips

Potty training will go much more smoothly when you establish a routine from the very beginning.

Take your puppy outside immediately after waking up or coming out of their crate and allow them time to go. Puppies will usually need to eliminate within about 20 minutes after eating, so be sure to take them outside after each meal.

Always take your puppy out before bedtime or before placing them in their crate.

If you are training outdoors, consider adding a bell or similar signal to the door so your puppy can learn to alert you when they need to go outside. All of our dogs are door trained using this method.

If your puppy has an accident, do not rub their nose in it. Puppies do not understand this type of correction. Instead, remain patient and continue reinforcing the routine.

Helpful Tip:
To speed up the training process, always use the same door (front or back) when letting your puppy out. Once they understand the routine, many puppies will begin to sit by the door to signal they need to go outside.

A doggy door can also be very helpful once your puppy understands the routine.

Be sure to reward your puppy with treats, praise, and lots of “good boy” or “good girl.” Positive reinforcement goes a long way in successful potty training.

Even in the best conditions, most puppies will have intestinal parasites at some point. For this reason, all of our puppies receive two different dewormers at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age.

Please keep in mind that puppies can easily pick up parasites from their environment—even something as simple as walking around the block. When you visit your veterinarian, be sure to discuss parasite prevention. They can recommend the best options to help eliminate or prevent any potential issues.

For prevention, we recommend Heartgard Plus until 12 months of age, followed by the ProHeart 12-month injection along with NexGard for flea and tick prevention.

However, these decisions are ultimately up to you and your veterinarian, so you can choose the best care plan for your fur baby.

Deworming & Parasite Prevention

All puppies and dogs should be brushed regularly. Routine brushing helps keep the coat healthy and most puppies and dogs learn to enjoy it.

Your dog should be taken to a professional groomer about every 3 months to keep their coat clean and well maintained.

Nail trimming and keeping the upper half of the ear hair trimmed (inside and out) will need to be done more frequently to maintain proper hygiene and comfort.
